Recreation

The natural environment provides many occasions for residents to walk, swim, bike, blade or hike. The City has over 72 parks and sports fields for you to enjoy.

Our waterfront marina has 270 boat slips with access to beautiful Lake Nipissing.

Throughout the City, a compliment of planned and unplanned trails and pathways can get you where you want to go while experiencing the local geography and nature at its best or by way of a paved, maintained trail system called the Kate Pace Way and the Kinsmen Trail.

Our beaches are some of the finest you will see. North Bay has 42 beach access points. Located on Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, you can enjoy white sandy beaches. Lifeguards are on duty at Marathon Beach, Birchaven Cove or Olmstead Beach... don't forget your sunscreen.

Winter activities keep you moving. Enjoy skiing, downhill and cross country, snowmobiling and snow-shoeing.

Our arenas are the hub for year round activities. From public skating and hockey shinny to concerts, tradeshows and conferences.

If you enjoy the spectator aspects of a sporting event you can check out a few community teams including the Skyhawks Hockey team or North Bay Bulldogs Football.

To find out more about recreation and sport activities in the City get a copy of the Leisure Brochure by clicking this link or contact the Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services Department at 474-0400 or on the second floor at City Hall.

Sporting organizations provide seasonal opportunities for all age groups. Including activities such as baseball, hockey, soccer, and ringette... just to name a few. A complete listing of sport organizations can be found in the Community Business Directory.
